Safety in the Precast Concrete Industry

Optimum Safety News

Structural, precast concrete production has many befits for the construction and architectural industries. Yet the entire process—from production to shipping—has potential for non-compliance, injury, or citation; especially when workers engage in unsafe or negligent behaviors.

This is why each year, the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) hosts a seminar for general managers, safety and environmental managers, and plant managers to highlight challenges and opportunities to ensure safety and environmental compliance in the entire precast manufacturing process.

Titled the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Safety and Environmental Management Workshop, this year’s event in Milwaukee will bring together hundreds if not thousands of managers committed to providing a safe, efficient, environmentally compliant workplace.

Specifically tailored to architectural and structural precast producers, the PCI Safety and Environmental Management Workshop stresses both the importance of safety and compliance, as well as the insight needed to translate the ideas from workshop to jobsite.

This is why we are pleased to announce that one of our key leaders, Steve Yates, has been selected to present at the event.

Mr. Yates will be presenting four topics throughout the event:

  • DOT Compliance and Product Shipping (Securement)
  • Stressing Safety: Strand, Chuck, etc.
  • Fall Protection: Rigging Product, Storage, Truck Loading
  • Development of a Safety Culture: How to minimize common injuries through exercises, tool box talks, light duty, and more

Although event registrations are now closed, we look forward to helping the precast industry to gain a better grasp on safety.
